Fire Safety Solutions for
Electric Vehicles

LITH+ and AERO+ advanced fire suppression engineered for EV battery compartments

As electric vehicles become the future of mobility, protecting battery compartments from fire risk is critical. SNF offers two purpose-built solutions – SNF LITH+, a liquid wetting agent for large-format EV battery systems, and SNF AERO+, India’s aerosol-based suppression device designed to be permanently installed inside individual battery compartments. Both systems integrate with AIS-135 approved Fire Detection & Alarm Systems and are engineered for reliability across the EV ecosystem.

Explain how the system works?

01
Fire Detection

The Linear Heat Detection (LHD) cable senses abnormal heat in the battery pack and triggers the fire detection system when temperatures exceed a set threshold.

02
Fire Alarm Activation

The control panel displays a fire indicator for the battery compartment, and the buzzer alarm sounds to alert the operator.

03
Alarm Acknowledgment

The alarm will continue to sound until the operator presses the “accept” button on control panel to silence it.

04
Automatic Suppression Activation

The suppression system automatically activates when the LHD cable detects a temperature rise, releasing SNF LITH+ or AERO+, a lithium-ion battery fire suppressant.

05
Manual Activation (If Automatic Fails)

If the system fails to activate automatically, the operator can manually release SNF LITH+ or AERO+ by pressing the control panel button or pulling the pin on the cylinder to open the solenoid valve.

06
Error or False Alarm Handling

In case of a false alarm or error, the operator can silence the alarm by pressing the "accept" button, correct the issue, and press the "reset" button to restore system functionality.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of the FDAS & FDSS system for EVs?

FDAS (Fire Detection & Alarm System) and FDSS (Fire Detection & Suppression System) are designed to detect and suppress lithium-ion battery fires in electric buses. These systems ensure quick response, deep penetration, and prevent thermal runaway or re-ignition.

The system uses SNF LITH+, a specially engineered wetting agent for lithium-ion batteries. It vaporizes at ~200–250 °C, rapidly absorbs heat, and interrupts thermal runaway.
  • Penetrates deep into enclosed battery packs
  • Prevents re-ignition and thermal runaway
  • Safe for high-voltage and sensitive electronics
  • Leaves minimal, non-corrosive residue
  • Performs well in high-temperature and vibration environments

Yes. Key components such as the control panel, strobe siren, and LHD cable are EMI/EMC certified and UL approved, ensuring reliable operation under extreme automotive conditions.

The linear heat cable activates at 187 °C, and the suppression system is triggered within 10 seconds, ensuring rapid and efficient containment.

LITH+ is a liquid wetting agent used to suppress fires in large-format EV battery systems — ideal for buses and energy storage installations.
